NextGen Federal Systems is seeking a skilled Application Developer to design, develop, and maintain database-driven applications that support business and operational needs. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in software development, experience across multiple programming languages, and a proven ability to deliver reliable, scalable IT solutions.


This position can work in either Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania or Indian Head, Maryland and an active Secret clearance (or higher) is required to be considered for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain database-driven applications to meet business requirements
  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other IT team members to define application specifications
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using one or more supported programming languages
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and enhance existing applications to improve performance and usability
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practices
  • Ensure applications comply with security, performance, and data integrity requirements
  • Support application deployment, upgrades, and ongoing maintenance activities


Required Qualifications
  • Four-year degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a related Information Technology (IT) role
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing database-driven IT applications
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following programming languages or technologies: C++, Java / J2EE, Visual Basic, .NET, HTML / XML, PowerBuilder, Delphi
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) methodologies
  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance or higher


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a team-based development environment
  • Familiarity with version control systems and modern development tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
