PURPOSE OF THE ROLE: The Donations Associate – Level 3 serves as a subject matter expert in inventory management and warehouse operations, ensuring accurate tracking, organization, and flow of donated goods throughout the facility. This role is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized donation and warehouse area while overseeing the movement of inventory and will have the ability to operate all heavy machinery. Level 3 Donation Associates are also responsible for providing strong customer service at the donation door and are skilled in sorting and organizing donations based on quality, standards, and unsellable or trash items. They guide and support other associates by reinforcing best practices, safety standards, and efficient workflows in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Donation Associate – Level 3 are required to learn and use all manual machinery such as manual pallet jacks, dollies, and hand trucks and be certified in all heavy machinery such as balers, compactors, electric pallet jacks, walking stackers and forklifts KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Warehouse – Ability to use and be certified in all heavy machinery. Assist with the movement of inventory, backstock, and loading or unloading shipments and heavy load drop offs. Assist the Supervisors and Assistant Managers in maintaining warehouse inventory, tracking, and/or rotating goods based on season, needs, or instore promotions. Prepare inventory for special sales or events. Keeping all backstock or warehouse areas clean, neat, and organized. Prevent any bottlenecks or congestion in warehouses, donations, and production areas. Keeping incoming backstock, bins, or gaylords organized for safety. Consistent tracking and documenting of all gaylords, backstock, and bins moving through the system. Guarantee the proper labeling and tracking of all gaylords being moved and loaded into trailers or backstock. Assist with communication needs from Supervisors, Assistant Managers, and Logistics Department in properly tracking and the movement of goods between stores. Customer Service - Greeting donors in a friendly and professional manner. Guarantee a positive donation experience even during busy times. Follow donation guidelines. Review donated goods for poor quality, damage, and/or restrictions and have the ability to turn away and explain why we cannot accept certain items. Ability to accurately answer donation questions and explain donation impacts while keeping donation flow moving. Ability to perform all partner donation tracking on an electronic tablet and champion donor loyalty. Organizing and Tracking Donations- Quickly and accurately sort incoming donations by department. Identify items for trash or unsellable before they are sent to production or back stock. Accurately track products that are moving from donation door to production, sorting stations, or backstock with an electronic tablet. Keep and maintain a clean environment by managing and clearing all trash from donation doors and organizing or breaking down cardboard. Production - Assist with production needs such as disinfection and pricing of furniture, assisting with clothing production dumping and baling, as well as ability to learn other production areas for sorting and trash removal. Cross-trained in at least 1 Production area for sorting, cleaning, and pricing. Partner with Production and Retail to handle any unsellable or Ragout items. Safety- Emphasize safety and organization in high demand environments. Required to learn and use proper safety equipment during everyday tasks (puncture resistance gloves and safety blades) Ability to learn and use pallet jacks, hand trucks, and dollies. Must be able to learn, use, and hold a certification for all electronics machines; electric pallet jack, walking stacker, compactor, baler, and forklift. Champion safety requirements for all machines located at the donation door and the warehouse. Identify issues, communicate, and assist with coaching others regarding safety guidelines. Learn and understand all safety requirements for disinfection (Sterifab) and PPE requirements. Other Tasks – Maintain a working knowledge of CommunityAid sales and marketing efforts, including current store needs. Communicate donation volume and issues to the Donations Supervisor & Participate in daily huddles and shift handoffs. Performs additional responsibilities as needed to support departmental and store goals.
