West Main Animal Hospital is seeking a Lead Kennel Assistant to join our team! Our Kennel team is dedicated to maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, clients, and staff while providing critical support to the veterinary team.  

In this role, your primary focus will be janitorial and housekeeping duties, ensuring kennels, common spaces and treatment areas are sanitized and well stocked with supplies. You will also assist our medical staff as needed with patient handling and restraint. This position is ideal for those who are self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoy cleaning and organization, and are committed to contributing to a team-focused environment. 

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with previous animal care experience, and an interest in veterinary medicine and leadership.

Schedule and compensation:

  • Compensation: $16.00 - $16.50 per hour, for each hour worked
  • This is a full-time position with a 5/8 schedule and availability needed Monday through Friday.

Your qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a veterinary kennel assistant or kennel technician preferred
  • Confidence working with dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments, with a willingness to learn safe handling and restraint techniques
  • Strong observational skills and ability to recognize and communicate changes or concerns to the veterinary team
  • Dependable, detail-oriented, and organized, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the veterinary profession
  • Physical ability to meet the demands of a hands-on animal care role
