WBZ NewsRadio has an opening for a part time news writer. Responsible for writing creative and relevant on-air news copy under continual rolling deadlines. Establishes relationship with listeners by providing news coverage to targeted demographic audience. Interviews newsmakers. Adheres to all guidelines, policies and procedures of the station, iHeartMedia, the FCC and all other federal, state and local laws, including policies and procedures regarding indecency and obscenity. Communicates clearly with editors and other newsroom staff. Update social media platforms such as X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, Threads etc. Verifies facts and produces news content. Requires 2+ years previous newsroom experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and social networking, media production and broadcast systems knowledge, strong knowledge of FCC rules, and a 4 year journalism degree preferred. Must work well under breaking news and deadline pressure with excellent verbal and written communication and editing skills. Demonstrated creativity, imagination, and ability to work well in a team environment. Able to adapt to changes in schedules and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment with short deadlines. Respect for others, problem solving skills, close attention to detail, and professional collaboration are essential.
