Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Dietary Services Manager, the Cook is responsible for preparing meals in accordance with resident diet specifications, established menus, facility policies, and all dietary and sanitary regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with planned menus, recipes, diet plans, portion control, temperature guidelines, and facility policies
• Ensure all trays meet menu and diet specifications for accuracy and presentation
• Maintain proper food storage and inventory practices
• Direct and assist with cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, equipment, utensils, and floors
• Follow all universal precautions, food safety, infection control, and sanitation procedures
• Work in a kitchen environment with varying temperatures, including exposure to ovens, stoves, and walk-in refrigerators/freezers
• Assist with receiving, inventorying, and storing incoming food and supplies
• Report hazardous conditions, equipment concerns, accidents, or incidents promptly

 

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Food Handler’s Permit and/or ServSafe certification per state requirements
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work cooperatively with residents, families, and team members in a positive and professional manner
