Site Coordinator - Willis Ave Community Center

The Malden YMCA is seeking a motivated individual to lead and coordinate activities in its Linden drop-in Afterschool Community Center, 5 afternoons a week. This individual will be responsible for supervising youth ages 6-16, providing enrichment activities, including academic support and tutoring, arts and crafts, working with community volunteers and maintaining communication with community organizations and partners. Experience working with children or appropriate educational background is required. This is a great opportunity to work with great kids in a neighborhood setting. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement fun, age-appropriate enrichment activities to engage children in play, learning, and social development.
• Supervise children to always ensure their safety and well-being.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding program activities, attendance, and any concerns.
• Ensure a clean and safe environment by following established safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate attendance, snack and related records for program participants.
• Recruit new children to attend the program, promoting its benefits to families and the local community.
• Administer basic first aid when necessary and respond to emergencies in accordance with CPR, First Aid, AED, and YMCA safety training certifications.
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to create a positive and structured program experience.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Certification in CPR, First Aid, AED, and YMCA safety training (must be current).
• Previous experience working with children in a group or educational setting preferred.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate children through activities and positive interactions.
• Commitment to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.
• Background check clearance required.

Working Conditions:

• Position requires active supervision, physical engagement in activities, and occasional lifting.
• Monday – Friday 3:00pm – 6:00pm (September – June)
• Monday – Friday 11:00am – 6:00pm (July – August)
