The Financial Aid Advisor must have exceptional customer service, organizational and prioritization skills; strong oral and written communication skills; be able to communicate effectively, and have negotiation and problem solving abilities; as well as the desire to work closely with a diverse student population.  This position has the potential to be hybrid, and will require 3 days per week in the office.


General Duties: 

  • Responsible for processing financial aid applications and counseling students and parents on all aspects of financial aid.
  • Provide students and parents with loan counseling and accurate information regarding the application process and their eligibility for State and Federal financial assistance, including alternative financing, and/or institutional payment plans.
  • Determine students’ Title IV eligibility through an approved needs analysis financial aid software system. 
  • Review financial applications and consumer statements for completeness and accuracy.
  • Process all forms in accordance with State/Federal and institutional regulations.
  • Update tracking system for new applications and missing documents for timely follow up and completion.
  • Participate in new student orientations, exit interviews, and open houses as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years Financial Aid Experience; 3-5 years customer service preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience; 
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate Degree required;
  • Basic Computer Skills, MS Word, Excel etc;
  • Familiarity with student loan programs;
  • Knowledge of Anthology; and
  • Knowledge of processing aid for standard and non-standard terms preferred.
