Position Summary

As a Cook Assistant, you will work alongside our culinary team to prepare wholesome, nutritious, and appetizing meals while learning the daily operations of a high-volume food service environment. You'll help ensure food quality, food safety, and excellent customer service while supporting our mission of helping students succeed.

This is an On-Call position with flexible scheduling based on operational needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assistwith the preparation and service of daily meals.
  • Ensure serving lines are properly prepared before each meal service.
  • Assistin preparing wholesome, nutritious, and appealing meals.
  • Monitor food temperatures throughout meal service to ensure food safety compliance.
  • Maintain proper food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Assistwith inventory management and notify supervisors when supplies need replenishing.
  • Help prepare weekly and monthly food service reports.
  • Maintain daily records of food costs and food usage.
  • Assistwith kitchen organization, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.
  • Work collaboratively with the Food Services team to provide excellent service to students and staff.
  • Follow all health department, sanitation, and food safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GEDrequired.
  • Two years of experience in a cafeteria, restaurant, commercial kitchen, healthcare food service, school cafeteria, or related food service environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and commercial kitchen operations.
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
