Position Purpose:

Responsible for carrying out all quality control activities within the Brake Shoe Fabrication (Semac) Department and the CNC Department.  Responsibilities include inspection, examination, testing, sorting, in-process and final audits.  Ability to validate conformance to all Brunner and Customer Specifications

 

Hourly Pay Range: $19.00 - $22.35 (add $0.90 for 2nd shift)

 

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain Environmental, Health, & Safety standards in the workplace
  • Read and understand all procedures and work instructions necessary for properly carrying out the requirements of this position
  • Perform first piece, in-process, and final audit inspection of product from all stages of manufacture or processing within the Semac / CNC Department
  • Measure all applicable blueprint requirements, using variety of instruments, such as, but not limited to snap gauges, mics, calipers, pin gauges, profilometer and height gauges
  • Compare material with part prints, engineering standards, and reference samples (or photos) to ensure all product is complete and correct to specification
  • Fill out all required check sheets and inspection records
  • Properly identify (tag) and segregate material found to be nonconforming
  • Communicate at all levels in the QA Department including Department Manager, Supervisors and Operators
  • Assist in employee training
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance to manufacturing and engineering
  • Keep assigned work area and equipment clean and orderly
  • Follow all documented safety procedures and postings
  • Provide temporary QA support to other manufacturing departments or shifts as necessary

Education and Training:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One-year work related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to read and understand part prints and engineering specifications
  • Basic math skills; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to work with standard measuring systems
  • Familiar with the use and proper care of both precision and non-precision measuring tools
  • Ability to work in a team environment, take directions from supervisor(s) and also work with minimal or no supervision when required

 Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand continuously for 8 – 12 hours
  • Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively
  • Ability to lift up to 12 pounds repetitively
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Good eye/hand coordination and good motor skills
  • Good close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception

Environmental Conditions:

  • Exposure to loud noise
  • Exposure to hot and humid conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles
  • Hearing protection and eye protection is required at all times in all production and assembly areas
  • Steel toe boots with metatarsals are required at all times
