Iroquois Job Corps is seeking a full-time Security Officer to help provide a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment for our students, staff, and visitors. This is more than a traditional security position—you will build positive relationships with students, assist with conflict resolution, and help create an environment where students can focus on achieving their educational and career goals.
This position is an excellent opportunity for college students, recent graduates, military veterans, or anyone looking to gain real-world experience before pursuing careers in federal, state, or local law enforcement and public safety.
Schedule:
- Day Shift: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Must be available to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas of campus to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
- Perform routine building security and safety inspections.
- Conduct preliminary investigations and complete incident reports (training provided).
- Enforce Center policies and procedures in a fair, professional, and respectful manner.
- Assist with conflict resolution and de-escalate situations involving students.
- Provide escorts for students, staff, and visitors as needed.
- Monitor campus activity through surveillance camera systems.
- Respond to emergencies and assist with crisis situations.
- Maintain accurate reports and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with Student Services, Residential Advisors, Wellness, and other departments to promote a safe campus community.
- Serve as a positive role model while encouraging respectful behavior and accountability.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Six months of experience in security, law enforcement, military service, corrections, customer service, or a related field preferred.
- Excellent communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in stressful situations.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a background check.
