Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking Software Engineers to support Software Quality Assurance. This position will be located on-site at our Aeronautics Systems Sector Melbourne, FL location. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Mission Assurance organization.

The selected candidate will develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems for software, test lab, and firmware products. Other duties include:

  • Collaborate with engineering and test functions to ensure quality standards are in place and followed.

  • Verify and validate software/firmware products and test equipment.

  • Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment; conduct quality assurance tests; and perform statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.

  • Reviews software design, change specifications, and plans against contractual and/or process requirements. Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies.

  • Performs or directs verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.

  • Audit internal and software/firmware supplier quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.

  • Participate in the root cause analysis process including ensuring that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.

  • Ensure that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contract.

  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, and/or research and development as they apply to systems and software product or process quality.

  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

This requisition may be filled as either an Associate Software Engineer or Software Engineer.

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Software Engineer:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be completing or has completed their bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026

  • Be majoring in or having majored in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial/Industrial & Systems Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or other related STEM degree

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Special Access Program clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Interim U.S. Government Security clearance will be required prior to the commencement of employment

Basic Qualifications for an Engineer Software Quality:

A candidate, regardless of age and hiring source, must meet ALL of the below

criteria. The candidate must:

  • Be completing or has completed their master’s degree from an accredited institution by August 2026 OR is completing or has completed their Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and has 2 years of software/software quality engineering experience by August 2026.

  • Be majoring in or having majored in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial/Industrial & Systems Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or other related STEM degree

  • Be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Special Access Program clearance within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs

  • Interim U.S. Government Security clearance will be required prior to the commencement of employment

Preferred Qualifications for both levels:

  • Experience in at least one coding language

  • Experience with AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Experience with software or systems requirements testing

  • Experience with Agile development

  • Previous internship/co-op or other work experience

  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork experience

  • Involvement in student organizations, professional engineering organizations, or other extracurriculars

  • Active US Secret security clearance

Salary Range:

  • Associate Software Engineer: $65,800 - $98,800/year

  • Software Engineer: $79,300 - $118,900/year
