We are hiring now for a Facilities Manager in Melbourne, FL!


SMTC Corporation was founded in 1985. SMTC is a mid-size provider of end-to-end electronics manufacturing services (EMS) including PCBA production, systems integration and comprehensive testing services, enclosure fabrication, as well as product design, sustaining engineering and supply chain management services. Services extend over the entire electronic product life cycle from the development and introduction of new products through to the growth, maturity and end-of-life phases.

Overall Responsibilities: The Facilities Manager is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and safe operation of the facility, grounds, and production equipment. This position is a hands-on, working manager role that combines technical expertise with leadership and coordination duties. The Facilities Manager ensures the facility and equipment remain in good working condition, supports production efficiency, and maintains compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.

 

Duties:

  • Keep the building and grounds in presentable and good working condition.
  • Perform and oversee maintenance and repair of building systems, production equipment, and grounds.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
  • Prioritize and assign daily work to facilities personnel, ensuring timely and high-quality completion.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to facilities staff.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors and service providers to ensure quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain compliance with all environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor facility operations to identify opportunities for improvement or cost savings.
  • Participate actively in emergency preparedness and response efforts related to the building and equipment.
  • Manage maintenance-related purchasing, inventory, and budget tracking.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, inspections, and vendor work.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to support operational needs and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Minimum High School Diploma with 10 years’ experience or an Associate’s Degree with 5 years experience in related field.

Experience: 

  • Interfacing with Service suppliers.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of facilities or maintenance experience, including hands-on work with building and production equipment.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and external service providers.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulations.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and general maintenance expertise.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a small team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of local suppliers, vendors, and service providers.


Working Conditions:

  • Primarily on-site with frequent walking, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular exposure to industrial or manufacturing environments.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work to address urgent maintenance needs or special projects.
