Responsible for overseeing plumbers, main campus GMTs, and Offsite Maintenance GMTs. This role involves managing inventory levels across all trades, issuing service tickets to staff via our online ticketing system, and supporting the maintenance of an effective emergency on-call system. As an on-call position, the individual may be required to respond during emergencies and report to campus as needed. Additional responsibilities include assisting with the maintenance of the aquatics center and supporting irrigation repairs throughout campus. This is
a critical role that requires readiness to respond during emergencies. The position also involves serving as the facilities-certified trainer for lifts, forklifts, bucket trucks, and backhoes. Florida Institute of Technology is a growing, top-ranked university with over 2,000,000 square feet of facilities to maintain.
Normal Working Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM

  • Oversee and assist plumbers, main campus GMTs and Offsite Maintenance GMTs with their daily duties as needed.
  • Stock, organize, and maintain cleanliness of Plumbing, Offsite and GMT stock rooms.
  • Pool Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and proper chemical chemical balance of pools. Coordinate with Athletics to ensure that the pool is ready for scheduled activities.
  • Maintain and properly use tools and equipment. Ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Utilize service ticket system through tablet/computer. Track, assign and complete service requests and work orders to accurately account for time and materials.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on all systems, offsite and plumbing-related, according to established schedules.
  • Emergency preparedness and support as directed. Additional duties as assigned.
  • Carry rotating cellphone for after-hours emergency calls – may be required to work evenings and weekends in
    an emergency.

Must have 5-8 years of experience in a plumbing and GMT position or in a similar field.

Knowledge needed across all trades, to include plumbing, electrical, HVAC, paint, carpentry and grounds.
Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Excellent communication skills.

Brevard County plumbing Journeyman's License preferred.
State of Florida driver's license and ability to maintain a good driving record by Florida Tech insurance guidelines.
30 hour OSHA GI certification (preferred).
Backflow Tester Certification.
Certified Pool Operator or Aquatics Facility Operator Certification.

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech’s 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment.
