Quality Assurance Inspector

Location: Melbourne, FL

Employment Type: Full-Time

Travel Requirement: Up to 25% of the time

 

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in quality control, particularly in the electronics manufacturing industry within Aerospace and Defense. This role is crucial to ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability to meet or exceed our valued customers expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Quality Control:

  • Perform detailed inspections of products and components to ensure compliance with IPC standards, particularly in soldering.
  • Conduct in-process inspections, final inspections, and first article inspections.
  • Use measurement tools and equipment to verify product dimensions and tolerances.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Interpreting and understanding schematics and engineering drawings
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections and findings.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports and communicate results to relevant stakeholders.
  • Use ERP systems to document inspection results and track product quality data.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for improvement in the manufacturing process to reduce defects and improve product quality.
  • Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to implement quality improvements.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action processes.

Compliance and Standards:

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001.
  • Stay updated on changes to quality standards and best practices.
  • Assist in audits and assessments of the quality management system.

Cross Functional Opportunities:

  • Ability to cross train on other functional roles to include (but not limited to):
    1. Shipping and receiving
    2. Electronics technician

 


Qualifications:

 

  • 8-10 years of experience in quality inspection, preferably in the electronics manufacturing industry within Aerospace and Defense.
  • IPC certification in soldering (IPC-A-610, J-STD-001) is required.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 audits and compliance.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other measurement devices.
  • Ability to interpret and understand schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with ERP systems for quality management. Global shop experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SharePoint for document management and collaboration.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
