The Material Management Specialist is a segment-level strategic advisor and subject matter expert responsible for designing, standardizing, and governing material management execution strategies across multiple Business Units. Operating within the Segment Supply Chain organization, this role establishes playbooks, compliance frameworks, and operational standards that guide how Business Units plan, procure, and control materials across defense programs, commercial production, and development contracts.

Essential Functions:
Â
- Design and maintain segment-wide material execution playbooks, SOPs, decision frameworks, and escalation protocols covering MRP execution, procurement timing, inventory control, and supplier management.
- Serve as segment SME for FAR, DFARS, MAAR 13, CAS, and MMAS compliance. Lead audit preparation and conduct compliance training across Business Units.
- Establish standards for material financial forecasting, EAC/ETC variance analysis, CAM responsibilities, and EVMS material reporting aligned to IMS and IPMDAR requirements.
- Define protocols for synchronizing MRP reporting with program IMS schedules, managing material lead times, and identifying critical path risks.
- Lead segment-level RCCA initiatives, analyze cross-sector data to identify systemic failures, and implement preventive controls and lessons-learned sharing.
- Standardize workflows for FMRs, MTO approvals, purchase order release, and supplier delivery management. Develop templates and job aids for consistent execution.
- Design collaboration models with Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics. Establish standards for engineering changes, obsolescence, and configuration control.
- Establish standards for program closeout, residual inventory disposition, excess/obsolete material management, and contractual compliance.
- Define material master data governance standards, establish performance metrics, and design dashboards to monitor execution effectiveness across Business Units.
- Coach and train Business Unit teams on MRP execution, EVMS, forecasting, and regulatory compliance. Lead cross-sector improvement initiatives.
- Partner with IT to define MRP system requirements, planning parameters, and evaluate automation opportunities.
- Ability to obtain a US security clearance

Qualifications:
Â
- Bachelor's Degree with 4 years prior experience, 2 year post-secondary/AA Degree and 8 years prior experience or Graduate Degree with 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:
Â
- Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software.
- Master Production Scheduling experience across multiple business models
- Extensive experience in U.S. DoD contract manufacturing and government compliance
- Experience leading process improvement and organizational change initiatives
- General familiarity with defense material standards (FAR, MMAS, SOX, and CAS requirements, as well as ITAR and EAR regulations).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain execution, and production control across diverse operating environments

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado state, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New York state, Cleveland Ohio, Vermont and Virginia is $60,000 - $112,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
