The Fuels Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of bulk fuel storage systems, hydrant systems, pipelines, and fuel distribution equipment in support of U.S. military and coalition operations at Al Udeid Air Base. This position ensures fuel systems remain fully mission-capable while complying with all safety, environmental, and technical standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fuel systems including bulk storage tanks, hydrant systems, pipelines, pumps, valves, meters, and filter/separator units.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues within fuel distribution systems.
  • Conduct inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with applicable technical orders, AFMANs, SOPs, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Repair or replace system components such as seals, gaskets, motors, actuators, gauges, and control panels.
  • Perform calibration, testing, and operational checks of fuel system equipment.
  • Support fuel system construction, modification, and upgrade projects as required.
  • Document maintenance actions, discrepancies, and inspections using maintenance logs and computerized tracking systems.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, fire prevention, and hazardous materials handling requirements.
  • Participate in spill response, emergency repairs, and contingency operations.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with fuels operations, engineering, and base agencies to minimize mission impact.
  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in fuel system maintenance, petroleum equipment maintenance, or related mechanical field.
  • Working knowledge of aviation fuel systems and bulk fuel infrastructure.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
  • Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD EIGHTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Qatar
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

TRAVEL: 100%, in deployed location.

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
