The Engineering Technician is responsible for planning and conducting independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises approach to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitors work for compliance to applicable codes and accepted engineering practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Creates design studies and concepts for the strength and economy of structural design which conforms to the needs and requirements of the customer.
  • Conduct basic land surveys for military projects, including measuring distances, elevations, and angles using total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment, levels, and tapes.
  • Prepare and revise CAD drawings, as-built plans, and schematics for MILCON projects, ensuring compliance with DoD standards, and installation design requirements
  • Interprets and adapts traditional methods and approaches in developing design calculations, layouts, drawings, and specifications that support project objectives and standards.
  • Provides procedural technique systems as required in support of the construction program.
  • Provides immediate solutions of problems at site for on-going construction issues.
  • Supports the workforce with structural technical advice and assistance.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Five (5) or more years’ experience in the engineering/construction management industry.
  • Must have experience with the design and supervision of a project with the aid of AutoCAD/Civil 3d software, and previous experience with up-grading and maintenance of existing civil facilities.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a valid U.S. Driver’s License
  • Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for Jordan
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Must have thorough knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques.
  • Must be proficient in creating designs for local construction contractors to complete and meet the requirements of the client.
  • Must be capable of complete design services including structural load determination, planning, and sitting.

TRAVEL: 100% Deployed to location

SECURITY CLEARANCE:  Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
