Resideo is seeking an ambitious, detail-oriented Principal Accountant to join our Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting group who enjoys working on interesting and complex accounting issues. Â
The Principal Accountant will report to the Senior Manager of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting. This position will involve researching technical accounting matters, preparing technical accounting memorandums, developing and maintaining accounting policies, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC regulations, and implementing accounting standards alterations. This role will assist in driving accounting excellence across the accounting organization, maintaining a strong internal control environment, administering Workiva, and supporting internal and external audits. The position will interface with various levels of personnel across the entire organization and is required to partner with parties within and outside Resideo to deliver accurate and timely financial information.  Â
JOB DUTIES:Â Â
Research technical accounting matters and prepare technical accounting memorandums on topics such as business combinations, stock compensation, derivatives, leases, revenue recognition, etc. Â
Assist with the development and maintenance of accounting policies with a focus on standardization and simplification.
Assist entity and segment-level accountants with the accounting for unique transactions.
Stay up to date on changes to US GAAP and SEC reporting and implement new accounting standards updates and SEC regulations.Â
Assist with ensuring compliance with SEC, US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley regulations.
Prepare and present potential solutions and alternative accounting approaches in accordance with US GAAP and SEC regulations. Â
Willingness to learn, grow, and develop to become a subject matter expert.
Actively participates in the documentation of required disclosures associated with our quarterly and annual filings of Forms 10-Q/10-K. Â
Ability to evaluate business situations and identify the key accounting issues; analyzes the impact of each solution; selects appropriate solutions and assists in implementing such solutions.
Present critical information to other departments, management, and/or external auditors in a clear and concise manner. Â
Commitment to being proactive over reactionary while applying critical thinking skills.
YOU MUST HAVE:Â Â
8+ years' accounting/finance experience or equivalent public accounting experience. Â
5+ years' experience with quarterly and annual SEC reports.Â
5+ years' experience interpreting or implementing complex accounting standards.
Working knowledge of financial systems/applications (Workiva, HFM, Smart View, SAP, Microsoft Suite).Â
CPA CertificationÂ
