Summary:  

The Surgical Scheduler is required to schedule appropriate procedures/surgeries per the provider’s orders.  The Surgical Scheduler must schedule procedures in the USMON system consistent with correct location, surgeon, diagnosis, start time, procedure type, and insurance information.  The Surgical Scheduler must also confirm all cases when received and again the day prior to the procedure.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule IONM (intraoperative Neurophysiological Monitoring) for patients with appropriate hospital, surgeon, and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling system in USMON.
  • Ensure requested surgical time and personnel are available with BOTH the provider and the hospital.
  • Interface with appropriate staff when needed to confirm schedule alignment and mitigate any scheduling inconsistencies.
  • Enter notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record.
  • Assists other members of the department as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 Qualifications:

  • Excellent customer service skills with patients, employees, and surgeons.
  • Computer-literate with detailed data-entry skills
  • Organized and able to handle a heavy workload with accuracy
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills
  • At least 1 year of experience in the scheduling field (preferred)
