Job DetailsJob Location: Department of Public Works - Dearborn, MI 48120Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $23.88 - $31.31 HourlyCLASS SUMMARY: This position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repair tasks for assigned areas. Responsibilities may include performing various repairs; preparing for events; and performing general office functions.  Supervises Custodians and Building Attendants. TYPICAL CLASS ESSENTIAL DUTIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.) 1.    Supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; coordinating staff training; and supporting personnel procedures. 2.    Performs various repair and maintenance tasks, including: repairing switches; replacing lightbulbs; repairing shower handles; cleaning drains; repairing cabinet doors; performing basic electrical and plumbing work, and basic woodworking; and performing related tasks. 3.    Prepares for company events, conferences, and related events, including: setting up tables; preparing stages; and performing related tasks. 4.    Performs general office functions, including: rating job candidate interviews; scheduling part-time staff; entering requisitions for parts and supplies; and preparing specifications for fire sprinkler and related tests. 5.    Cuts, sands, and paints drywall. 6.    Demonstrates regular and predictable attendance, including attendance at required meetings. This job description is intended to represent only the key areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the business needs of the department.   QualificationsTRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Associate’s degree; or two-year technical certificate; or, High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and 2 years of related experience; or, all required certification(s); or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: •    Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and/or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) required within six months of hire (for those in this classification assigned to Camp Dearborn or City Aquatics only) KNOWLEDGE: •    Customer service principles; •    Building maintenance principles; •    Blueprint reading; •    Performing various repairs; •    Computers and related software; •    Tools and equipment; •    Occupational hazards and safe work methods and practices.    SKILLS: •    Performing various repairs; •    Providing customer service; •    Using tools and equipment; •    Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to mechanical parts, fumes, gases, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restricts movement, and intense noise.
