Job DetailsJob Location: Memphis, TN 38132PURPOSE AND SCOPE: The Elementary Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing specially designed instruction to students with disabilities in a supportive and inclusive environment. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, specialists, families, and support staff to ensure that all students meet their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and are provided with appropriate accommodations and modifications to access the curriculum. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with federal and state regulations. Plan and deliver effective instruction tailored to students' unique learning needs in academic, social, emotional, and behavioral domains. Modify general education curriculum as needed to meet students’ needs. Utilize evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies. Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, related service providers, and paraprofessionals. Monitor student progress using data-driven assessments and make adjustments to instruction accordingly. Maintain accurate records of student progress, behavior, and other required documentation. Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and professional development opportunities. Create a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment. Provide direction and support to instructional aides and paraprofessionals. Stay current on best practices and legal requirements in special education. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (K–6 or appropriate grade level) Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance Preferred: Master’s degree in Special Education Experience with inclusive practices and co-teaching models Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive tools   SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment Patience, compassion, and a commitment to student success Strong organizational and time management abilities Proficient in data collection and progress monitoring tools
