A Brief Overview
Responsible for the management of clinical/regulatory and continuous readiness activities for the ambulatory pharmacy sites and services, which include Joint Commission (JC), Centers for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), all specialty pharmacy accreditations, USP 797/800, State Boards of Pharmacy. This position will ensure compliance with standards/elements of performance, core measures, performance review activities, and other organizational, state, federal, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols. Works collaboratively with internal staff/external agencies/organizations for facilitation, coordination, integration, and follow up of continuous readiness activities. Provides monitoring, auditing, reporting and follow-up for issues and processes to ensure compliance, communication and facilitation of necessary information through appropriate levels of the organization.
What you will do
- Monitors and reports on pertinent changes in internal/external market, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner and presents action plans for immediate implementation/approval.
- Provides leadership and operationally implements plans, programs, and activities to ensure continuous readiness and in compliance with organizational, state, federal and local regulatory laws and standards and practices.
- Develops and manages systems for completing audits, ongoing monitoring processes, evaluating and reporting compliance of Joint Commission, Specialty Pharmacy Accreditations, Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory requirements. Pursues opportunities to improve patient care and reports identified problems for resolution. Communicates appropriately and makes recommendations as needed to improve services and efficiency in operations.
- Responsible for data submission to all contracted networks, manufacturers and Specialty Group organizations as part of the Specialty Pharmacy services.
- Participates on departmental/organizational committees serving as resource related to all accreditation agencies for our ambulatory sites and specialty pharmacy activities including Joint Commission, CMS, state, federal and local regulatory laws, standards, and practices.
- Actively provides oversight in the creation, updating, and monitoring of policies and procedures related to the retail and Specialty pharmacy services. Coordinates with inpatient policies in an effort to provide optimal patient care and full compliance to regulatory standards.
- Consults, advises and provides assistance to internal/external staff departments/committees and organizational departments/committees in the development and management of specialty and retail pharmacy services.
- Understands all standards and provides interpretation as it relates to Joint Commission, Specialty Accreditation agencies, and other regulatory standards to promote consistency and compliance related to the Specialty Pharmacy rand retail services.
- Assures accurate and timely communication with all agencies and accrediting organizations for compliance and operational issues.
- Responds to, coordinates and provides assistance with all accrediting agencies on-site visits, coordinating activities and follow-up to ensure timely completion and resolution of identified issues. Maintains results and current status of all surveys/visits.
- Coordinates investigations related to accrediting agencies and regulatory agency requirements.
- Provides communication and documentation related to results of surveys, licensing and accrediting requirements.
- Maintains documentation of all licensing and accrediting requirements for all accrediting agencies, payer networks and regulatory agencies related to the Specialty Pharmacy Services.
- Performs concurrent review to identify, investigate and report unexpected outcomes, risk management, unusual events.
- Conducts staff in-services, training and orientation on policies and standards related to Specialty Pharmacy services
- Assists with overall development and implementation of the performance improvement plan.
- Assists in the identification of goals and related patient outcomes.
- Communicates any changes to accreditation standards to Specialty and Retail management in a manner to allow time for updates to be made months prior to reaccreditation.

Qualifications

- Graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy Preferred and
- Master's Degree M.S. Preferred and
- Pharm D Preferred
- PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist Tennessee Licensure as a Pharmacist. Upon Hire Required
- Additional certification and state board licenses may be required based on assignment. Upon Hire Required
- Experience in patient care as obtained through completion of an approved pharmacy program. Required and
- ASHP Accredited residency Preferred and
- Minimum 2 years experience Progressive administrative/management experience in performance review, accreditation readiness or compliance related oversight. Required
