Credentialing Specialist (FQHC)

About Christ Community Health Services

Since 1995, Christ Community Health Services (CCHS) has provided high-quality healthcare to the underserved in the context of distinctively Christian service. As a faith-based Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we serve approximately 60,000 patients each year across our Memphis health centers, offering primary care, dental, behavioral health, vision, pharmacy, and specialty services to the communities that need them most.

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-driven Credentialing Specialist to own provider credentialing, privileging, and payer enrollment across our organization. In this role, you are the engine that keeps our providers seeing patients β€” verifying qualifications, maintaining audit-ready files, driving timely Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer enrollment, and serving as our primary point of contact for the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) program. You'll play a critical part in HRSA compliance, FTCA deeming, and site visit readiness, ensuring uninterrupted patient care for the communities we serve.

Our Core Values β€” and What They Look Like in This Role

At CCHS, how the work is done matters as much as what is done. Our core values aren't wall art β€” they are performance expectations, and here is what they mean for a Credentialing Specialist:

  • Intentional LoveΒ β€” Love here is a choice, not a feeling. In this role it means treating every provider, coworker, and agency contact with patience and respect, even during a stressful enrollment deadline or a difficult verification. People should leave every interaction with you feeling respected β€” even when the answer was no.
  • Devoted ServiceΒ β€” We are go-getters who take initiative instead of waiting for someone else to act. In this role it means owning your files end to end, closing every loop, chasing down the missing document before it becomes a lapse, and never saying β€œthat's not my job.” Providers see patients because you followed through.
  • Humble ExcellenceΒ β€” Excellence is not perfection, but we reject mediocrity. In this role it means audit-ready files, zero missed expirations, and pursuing the highest standard β€” while staying teachable: welcoming feedback, admitting mistakes early, and asking for help before something breaks.

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate full-cycle credentialing and recredentialing for all providers and applicable clinical staff, including primary source verification of licensure, education, training, board certification, work history, and malpractice history.
  • Prepare and present credentialing files to the Credentialing Committee and maintain audit-ready records that meet HRSA, CMS, and state requirements.
  • Track license expirations, certifications, and DEA registrations to ensure continuous compliance β€” nothing lapses on your watch.
  • Drive timely enrollment and revalidation with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers, and maintain accurate CAQH profiles and attestations.
  • Administer the NHSC program: site applications, recertifications, provider service obligation tracking, and support for recruiting and retaining NHSC-eligible providers.
  • Support FTCA deeming applications and HRSA Operational Site Visit (OSV) preparation.
  • Serve as the liaison between providers, HR, administration, and external agencies, and support provider onboarding in partnership with HR and clinical leadership.
  • Generate credentialing status, expiration, and compliance reports for leadership.

What You'll Bring

  • 2–3 years of credentialing experience in a healthcare setting (required); FQHC or community health center experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HRSA, CMS, and FTCA requirements and credentialing regulations.
  • Familiarity with CAQH, NPI registry, PECOS, and payer enrollment processes.
  • NHSC program administration experience strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines independently.
  • Strict confidentiality with provider and organizational information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and credentialing software systems.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • CPCS or CPMSM certification preferred.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (120 hours in your first year) plus paid holidays.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Annual paid Restorative Day supporting wellness and work-life balance.
  • Mission-driven culture, employee recognition programs, and the opportunity to do work that directly expands healthcare access in Memphis.
