Job Summary:

The Distribution Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) shall assist the Pharmacist as requested and as permitted by law, with work functions in the distribution pharmacy.  The CPhT will perform many pharmacy-related functions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and perform all administrative functions of the department within the scope of a certified pharmacy technician that do not require professional judgment or extensive technical training. The below is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job and is not to be construed as an exhaustive statement of essential functions, responsibilities, or requirements.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Prepares and packs prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacist.
  2. Orders, receives, and maintains inventory of drugs and supplies and ensures their security as needed.
  3. Helps maintain orderly, clean environment, including cleanliness of pharmacy stock and supplies.
  4. Enters data in computer system, recording purchase orders, stock orders, requisitions, and disbursements as needed.
  5. Under direction of pharmacist, removes unneeded or outdated drugs from stock and prepares for return or disposal as needed.
  6. Performs general clerical duties for the department.
  7. Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and Quality activities.
  8. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.  Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  9. Performs other pharmacy-related duties as requested or required.
  10. Knowledge and skill ensuring that medications are properly packaged, labeled and stored, and not outdated.
  11. Pharmacy technicians must wear appropriate identification showing name and appropriate title (e.g. pharmacy technician, certified pharmacy technician).
  12. All pharmacy technician functions shall be performed under the supervision of a pharmacist, who shall direct and verify the accuracy of all pharmacy technician functions.
  13. A registered technician shall maintain his or her registration certificate at the pharmacy practice site; additionally, all certified technicians shall display in like manner evidence of certification. 
  14. All registered technicians shall immediately notify the board in writing of any change of address or employer.
  15. Regular and reliable attendance expected.
  16. Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.

 

Minimum Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Required

  1. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. 
  2. Minimum of 1 year experience in retail or specialty pharmacy
  3. A current unrestricted state technician and national CPhT certification must be evidenced prior to and during employment.
  4. Must be willing and able to work any dedicated 8-hour, AnovoRx Distribution shift between the hours of 8am-7pm.
  5. Must be willing and able to work onsite on your regularly scheduled shift Monday-Friday.
  6. Must present professionally on the phone and in person.
  7. Able to lift 50 pounds.
  8. Able to stand for long periods of time.
  9. Able to conduct repetitive motions of answering phones and keying.
  10. Adept at handling sensitive and confidential situations.
