Finance & Analytics Intern – Sylvamo (Full-Time, Summer)
Position Summary
Sylvamo’s Finance Center of Excellence (COE) is seeking a highly motivated intern to support initiatives across Data Science, Business Analytics, and Internal Audit. This role will contribute to projects focused on improving decision-making, financial performance, and operational insights across the enterprise.
The intern will work with real business data and partner with teams across the organization to support analysis, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze financial and operational data to support business decisions and performance tracking
- Assist in building and maintaining reports, dashboards, and data models
- Support Data Science efforts, including data preparation, validation, and exploratory analysis
- Partner with Finance and Business teams to identify trends, risks, and opportunities
- Support Internal Audit activities through data review, testing, and documentation
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies and recommending solutions
- Deliver clear, concise summaries of findings for business stakeholders
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree in Business Analytics, Accounting, Finance, Data Science, or related field
- Strong academic performance
- Proficiency in Excel; exposure to tools such as R, Python, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences
- Self-starter with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with data in academic or project settings
- Familiarity with data visualization or basic statistical concepts
- Interest in applying analytics to real-world business and financial problems
