Position Summary

Works under general supervision to supervise and assist in the completion of unskilled and/or semi-skilled work activities.

Pay Grade: 42H

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three (3) years of experience in on-the-job or formal training in the work which will be performed; AND
  • High school diploma or possess a GED.
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION; TRAINING; AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
     

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervises the work of assigned lines and/or semi and unskilled workers to accomplish daily work tasks.
  • Drives commercial type crew cab line trucks, and assists in operations related to construction work, ditching, erosion control, concrete construction, shoveling, brush chipping, tractor mowing.
  • Manages inventory of materials and supplies, as well as ensuring the safe and proper use of all assigned equipment/tools and operator maintenance.
  • Reports daily activity records as required for Roads & Bridges County Technical Assistance Service (CTAS) tracking and accounting system.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
     

KSAs

  • Knowledge of Shelby County roads, and drainage areas.
  • Knowledge of construction repair and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to coordinate and supervise one or more employees.
  • Knowledge of maintenance and operation of power equipment.
  • Understanding and ability to operate construction equipment
  • Ability to install erosion control devices and structures.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor environment.
     

Physical Requirements

  • Must successfully pass a physical examination.
  • Must be able to consistently lift seventy-five (75) to ninety (90) pounds.
     

Special Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Tennessee Commercial Driver License (CDL) with a Class “B” Air Brake Endorsement or secure one prior to end of new employee probation.
  • Must submit to and pass drug and alcohol screening.
