Position Summary

Works under limited direction to be responsible for installation and maintenance of plumbing systems.

Pay Grade: 51H

Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of plumbing experience after acquiring Journeyman license; AND 
  • High school diploma or possess a GED. 
  • PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.
     

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assembles, installs, repairs pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water and drainage systems, according to specifications and plumbing codes. 
  • Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand tools and power tools. 
  • Cuts and threads pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torch and pipe threading machine. 
  • Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings and pipes composed of various metals and non-metals. 
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing, mending and opening systems as required. 
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed.
     

KSAs

  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a variety of plumbing tools and equipment. 
  • Knowledge of metal and non-metal piping and their properties. 
  • Knowledge of measurements. 
  • Ability to interpret building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. 
     

Physical Requirements

  • Must pass a physical examination. 
     

Special Requirements

  • Must be able to function in a prison environment.   
  • Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s license or secure one by date of employment date.  
  • Participate in annual in-service and other training programs as required.  
  • Must pass drug and TB screen.   
  • Must pass NCIC background check.
