Assistant Professor

The Department of Communication & Film at the University of Memphis seeks to fill multiple tenure-track assistant professor positions in film and video production for fall 2026. These are tenure track, academic year faculty positions on the main campus (Memphis). Candidates must have a terminal degree, MFA or PhD, in a film-related field, experience in film and video production, and an ongoing record of film/video production credits. Candidates should have working knowledge of film/video production and post-production equipment and be able to demonstrate hands-on experience in the full production process from writing to post-production. Candidates should demonstrate the potential to teach advanced courses in any of the following areas: narrative writing, producing, directing, audio production, animation editing as well as basic production courses. Production oriented candidates with an interest in teaching studies classes in addition to hands-on production are welcome to apply.
