About the Role:

The Security role is critical in ensuring the safety and protection of people, property, and information within an organization or designated area. This position involves monitoring premises to prevent theft, violence, or infractions of rules, and responding promptly to any incidents or emergencies. The Security professional will serve as a visible deterrent to unlawful activities while maintaining a secure environment through vigilant observation and proactive measures. They will collaborate with law enforcement and emergency personnel when necessary, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and organizational policies. Ultimately, this role aims to create a safe and secure atmosphere that supports the organization's operational goals and the well-being of all stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid security guard license or certification as required by state regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of security operations and emergency response procedures.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.
  • Strong observational skills and physical fitness to perform patrol duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
  • Certification in CPR and first aid.
  • Familiarity with security technology such as CCTV systems and alarm monitoring.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular patrols of assigned areas to monitor for suspicious activity or safety hazards.
  • Receive assignments from Loss Prevention Director / Manager
  • Oversees all aspects of security / loss prevention at assigned facility
  • Manages budget at assigned facility
  • Works with lead of assigned security staff at assigned facility to ensure proper scheduling / training of contract security officers
  • Keep areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Maintain membership of facility’s emergency organization.
  • Control access to facilities.
  • Responds to and assume control of accident / incident scenes / events
  • Conduct fire / life safety and security inspections
  • Monitor electronic equipment to include access control. Electron tour patrols and cctv
  • Greet employees, visitors, customers, etc; ensure all access control procedures are followed.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities for a specific shift.
  • Provides and or assure training is provided to assigned officers
  • Determine schedule requirements for a specific site
  • Responsible for Loss Prevention program as required / directed by Loss Prevention Director / Manager
  • Monitor attendance policy and report violations to Loss Prevention Management.
  • Ensures site / security posts have supplies.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Continuously monitor employee activity that could lead to lost or damaged product.
  • Functional and continuous monitoring and reporting of safety conditions
  • Continuously establish and monitor work activity of 4 to 12 employees at assigned facility.
  • Control access to facilities by verifying credentials and maintaining visitor logs.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and incidents, including providing first aid or coordinating with emergency services.
  • Prepare detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and security breaches for management review.
  • Maintain communication with team members and supervisors to ensure coordinated security efforts and situational awareness.
  •   Knowledge

    • Requires above average ability to read, write, and speak English, prepare reports, and follow instructions.
    • Minimum education of high school diploma or equivalent.  Some college or technical training and state certification preferred.
    • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excell, Power Point
    • Should be certified in CPR/first aid.  Will have the ability to use electronic monitoring equipment relating to fire/life safety.
    • Must have 2 years prior experience in the security/loss prevention/law enforcement field with at least 6 months in a supervisory role or lead position.
    • Position requires ability to act independently and work with minimum supervision.
    • Will initiate audits relating to safety and asset protection.
    • Will conduct investigations on employee injuries, missing product, and other related matters.
  •      Physical Demand

     

    • Requires continuous walking, standing, bending, and sitting
    • Will lift minimum to maximum weight on rare occasions.
    • Must respond in a quick manner to emergency situations.
    • Will frequently monitor a closed-circuit television
    • Will continuously monitor a radio frequency
    • Will occasionally prepare reports relating to activities.
    • Position is continuously exposed to disagreeable physical elements present in the entire operation.
    • Minimal occupational hazards. Position subject to minor injuries.
    • The ability to interface effectively with people in a manner that makes them feel comfortable and at ease is essential in this position.
    • Must maintain absolute confidentiality of Loss Prevention management.

Skills:

The required skills such as vigilance, physical fitness, and knowledge of security protocols are essential for effectively monitoring and protecting the premises on a daily basis. Strong communication skills enable the Security professional to interact clearly with visitors, staff, and emergency responders, ensuring smooth coordination during incidents. Observational skills are used continuously to detect and assess potential threats or irregularities. Preferred skills like familiarity with security technology enhance the ability to monitor multiple areas simultaneously and respond quickly to alarms. Additionally, conflict resolution and first aid skills are valuable in managing confrontations and providing immediate assistance during emergencies, contributing to overall safety and security.
