Overview

Join our engineering team as the architect and maintainer of our wireless and mobile application automated testing infrastructure. This hands-on role encompasses the full lifecycle of physical testbed assembly, hardware and software provisioning, device configuration, troubleshooting, and automation, playing a pivotal part in ensuring our development and validation teams always have reliable, scalable, and well-documented test environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, source, build, and maintain comprehensive testbed infrastructure for wireless and mobile app automated testing.
  • Plan rack layouts, assemble and upgrade racks, and perform hardware updates for testing and validation needs.
  • Configure and provision mobile devices (Android/iOS) including OS installation, network/APN and developer settings, and test account management.
  • Diagnose and resolve testbed issues involving connectivity (wireless/USB/ethernet), network performance, device temperature management, application stability, and user/data integrity.
  • Maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs); research, recommend, and coordinate procurement of lab hardware; manage inventory for buildouts and replacements.
  • Document testbed configuration, laboratory processes, and device data to ensure accessibility and clarity for test engineering teams.
  • Deploy, image, and secure servers, NUCs, and compute nodes running Linux, Windows, or macOS.
  • Build, manage, and allocate virtual machine resources (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, etc.) to expand and scale test infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with lab operations to identify, acquire, and distribute test equipment (switches, phones, Macs, cables) to onsite labs.
  • Install, configure, and maintain automation tools and lab monitoring solutions for system health and operational data collection.
  • Develop scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar) to automate routine workflows such as device provisioning, account creation, and configuration validation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a laboratory, test environment, hardware, or IT operations role.
  • Proficiency with rack assembly, structured cabling, and handling general laboratory equipment.
  • Experience with server or compute node imaging and setup (Linux, Windows, or macOS environments).
  • Working knowledge of mobile operating system configuration (Android/iOS), including developer tools (ADB, Xcode).
  • Ability to read, maintain, and update Bills of Materials, and handle procurement coordination.
  • Experience with managing test accounts and application configurations on mobile devices.
  • Strong documentation skills, with attention to reproducibility and detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Scripting capabilities in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating workflows and building lab tools.
  • Experience building and managing virtual machines (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V, or similar).
  • Familiarity with wireless lab environments and operation of cellular/Wi-Fi test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G) at a functional level.
  • Experience with network troubleshooting and monitoring tools (ping, traceroute, Wireshark, log analysis).

$85,000$140,000 USD
