Meta is looking to take advantage of the efficiencies gained by optimizing our network hardware for our data centers. Meta is looking for a Network Optical Engineer Intern to support the development of the Network Hardware for the Data Centers and Wide Area Networks of Meta. Internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16) weeks long.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Meta engineers on the next generation optical communication technology with a particular focus on the testing of optical modules and subsystems for Data Center applications.
  • Work cross functionally across Meta teams including SW, Thermal, Mechanical, and EE
  • Develop test and simulation methodologies relevant for next-generation, high-speed optical technologies.
  • Develop automation practices and solutions for lab testing.
  • Streamline data collection, retrieval and analysis.
  • Characterization of RF/mm-wave systems, such as S-parameter measurements, jitter measurements, and ADC/DAC performance.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, or related field
  • Familiarity with lab equipment such as optical spectrum analyzer, high speed oscilloscopes, high speed probes, logic analyzers, optical power meters or data acquisition systems
  • Experience in Python or other object-oriented programming language, or C/C++, or MATLAB
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with system-level optical communication hardware and components
  • Experience in high-speed optical and electrical tests
  • Experience working in a distributed software development environment with other engineers
  • Experience with lab automation
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op


$6,688/month to $11,467/month + benefits
