Responsibilities
- Mechanical Design: Independently manage and deliver medium-complexity mechanical assemblies or subsystems, driving technical solutions from concept to production
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external partners, including supply chain, manufacturing, and cross-disciplinary engineering teams
- Prototyping & Testing: Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems

- Product Development Cycle: Drive projects from early concept through prototyping, validation, and mass production, supporting manufacturing partners worldwide
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical direction, mentor junior engineers, and influence program strategy and execution
- Innovation: Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solve complex mechanical problems in consumer electronics, robotics, infrastructure, and research
- Documentation & Communication: Generate and manage technical documentation, specifications, and clear communication across teams and stakeholders
- Travel: Support manufacturing and development activities with travel to external vendors and partners as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- 6+ years of industry experience in mechanical design, including shipping high-volume commercial products or complex electromechanical assemblies
- Proficiency in 3D/2D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Creo)
- Experience in Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), statistical tolerance analysis, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Working knowledge of material properties (plastics, metals, adhesives, glass, PCBA, flex circuits, etc.)
- Experience with high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, injection molding, die casting, etc.)
- Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- End-to-end experience from concept creation to deployment of a product
- Experience in designing and manufacturing sheetmetal enclosures
- Experience in designing and manufacturing plastic, die cast, extrusion and machined parts
- Experience optimizing product designs using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for shock and vibe, thermal, and certification performance
- 6+ years of experience designing and shipping data center system equipment. Rack level design experience is preferred
- Familiar with AI, server, storage, network, machine learning systems, rack & power
- Experience with owning a complete hardware system as a mechanical engineering lead
- Experience with a variety of electronic interconnection types and their various performance pros and cons
- Available for international and domestic travel, approximately 10% of work time
$144,000/year to $204,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
