Team Sheeper, Inc. is headquartered in Menlo Park, CA at Burgess. We have locations in Menlo Park (Burgess Pool & Belle Haven Pool) and Palo Alto (Rinconada Pool). We offer swim lessons for children and adults, youth swim team, triathlete training, an aqua fit program, a masters swim program, and spring/summer camp.
We are looking for Full-Time Lifeguards to join our team! Full-Time Lifeguards would work between 28-40 hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling. Within a month of hire all Full-Time Lifeguards are eligible for benefits including vacation, health, and vision.
If you are not currently a certified lifeguard we can train you! You must be able to meet the requirements for taking lifeguard training include being able to swim 150 freestyle/breaststroke followed immediately by 2 minutes of hands-free treading, and then 50 freestyle/breaststroke as well as retrieve a 10 lb. brick from the bottom of the pool.
Lifeguards are responsible for the safety of the clients at the pool. The position requires interacting with clients, parents and their Ā children, and the public. This includes problem-solving, information and guidance, and professional communication. Lifeguards should be able to work in a cooperative team environment. Position requires Ā responsible, consistent, focused, hard-working, and attentive individuals.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
- Acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency
- Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service
- Performs various maintenance and cleaning duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
- Follows emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency.

Requirements
Requirements For Lifeguard I (Full-Time):
- Current Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications preferredĀ
- Must be able to swim 150 freestyle/breaststroke followed immediately by 2 minutes of hands-free treading, and then 50 freestyle/breaststrokeĀ
- Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
- Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Must be self-disciplined, responsible and alert
- Assertive, courteous, and professional behavior
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be punctual & have reliable transportation
Requirements For Lifeguard II (Full-Time):
Lifeguard IIās are expected to provide leadership to new lifeguards by being a go to source for information and job knowledge. This includes problem-solving, providing information and guidance and top-notch, professional communication. Lifeguards should be able to work in a cooperative team environment. Position requires responsible, consistent, focused, hard-working, and attentive individuals.
To qualify for a lifeguard II position you must meet 4 out of the 5 criteria:
- Have a high school diploma or equivalentĀ
- Complete the lifeguard station response time test in under 1 minute and 30 seconds
- Have two years lifeguard experience
- Be cross trained in at least one other department within the Team Sheeper organization
- Maintain 2 points or less in any 6 month period through Team Sheeper attendance policy
Requirements for Lifeguard III (Full-Time):
Lifeguard IIIās are expected to provide leadership to new lifeguards by being a go to source for information and job knowledge. This includes problem-solving, providing information and guidance and top-notch, professional communication. Lifeguards should be able to work in a cooperative team environment. Position requires responsible, consistent, focused, hard-working, and attentive individuals. Lifeguard IIIās have a deep knowledge of best practices and standards in the field of aquatics and American Red Cross lifeguarding. Lifeguard IIIās must meet the criteria of a lifeguard II and in addition must meet the following criteria.
To qualify for a lifeguard III position you must meet 3 out of the 4 criteria:
- Be certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
- Have 4 years of lifeguard experience, or 2 years of lifeguard experience and 2 years leadership experience
- Be cross trained in at least 2 other departments within the Team Sheeper organization
- Have attended in-service in person without make ups 10 out 12 in-services
