Position Summary:

As the Electrical Engineering Intern, you will report to Director of Engineering. In this position you will play a key role in testing, designing, and developing electrical and/or magnetic components and systems while working cross-functionally in teams. You will be responsible for component evaluation and design, project coordination and management, innovative solutions, electrical engineering support, and team collaboration. This role includes hands on experience in our engineering test lab.

 

Responsibilities:

Component Evaluation & Design

  • Use relevant experience to aid in the design and development of electrical and/or magnetic components and systems
  • Evaluate, select, and apply components used in advanced magnetic components
  • Improve engineering models and tools
  • Facilitate practical and effective magnetic component designs
  • Translate technical customer requirements into cost-effective designs
  • Collect and analyze data recorded in our test lab

Project Coordination & Management

  • Assist in the coordination and management of projects
  • Coordinate mechanical design activities
  • Coordinate validation testing or prototype designs

Innovative Solutions

  • Brainstorm new ideas to reduce harmonic distortion and EMI in modern power electric systems
  • Investigate innovative solutions that result in new products and patents
  • Learn and perform engineering analysis and digital simulation leveraging advanced tools (CAD, FEA, statistical tolerance analysis, computational analysis – Matlab, etc.)

Electrical Engineering Support

  • Provide support for existing and modified products under the direction of the design team

Team Collaboration

  • Participate on cross-functional teams addressing and resolving manufacturing, design, and quality complications
  • Ensure continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods
  • Provide continuous, on-going improvements for cost reductions

Qualifications & Skills:

As the ideal candidate for the Electrical Engineering Intern, you will have:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Preferably at a sophomore, junior, or senior status
  • Project organization skills
  • Ability to quickly master new concepts
  • Exhibits problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates relevant experience designing and developing electrical and/or magnetic components and systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Shows a deep understanding of the scientific method
  • Experience with magnetic finite element analysis and simulation tool
