Position Summary: Lead and supervise the CNC machining team to meet production, quality, and safety targets. Oversee operation and maintenance of Vertica mills, Haas machines, CNC centers, lathes, and saws. Mentor and coordinate machine operators, assign work, and continuously improve shop performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily shop floor operations for CNC mills (including Vertica), Haas machines, CNC centers, lathes, and saws.
  • Assign work, set priorities, and balance workloads across machine operators to meet production schedules.
  • Train, coach, and evaluate machine operators; conduct performance reviews and recommend personnel actions.
  • Ensure setup, programming checks, tooling changes, and first-piece inspections are completed and documented.
  • Monitor production output and quality; troubleshoot process issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, CAD/CAM programs, and job travelers; verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Maintain and enforce safety procedures, housekeeping, and lockout/tagout compliance.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and minor repairs; escalate major equipment issues to maintenance or vendors.
  • Track and report production metrics (OEE, scrap, throughput) and participate in continuous improvement projects (5S, Kaizen).
  • Manage inventory of tooling, inserts, fixtures, and consumables; request purchases as needed.
  • Ensure accurate job setup documentation, tool offsets, program revisions, and machine logs.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 3–5+ years hands-on experience operating CNC mills (Vertica preferred), Haas machines, lathes, and saws.
  • 1–2+ years supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing/CNC environment.
  • Proficient reading/interpreting blueprints, GD&T, and basic metrology (calipers, micrometers, CMM familiarity a plus).
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software and CNC programming basics (G-code knowledge).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for machining processes and tooling issues.
