Position Summary |
Provides care to patients acting/following established standards and practices. Â Provides diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive healthcare services for Allergy and ENT Patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
- Promotes and maintains patient health by providing medical services under the supervision of a physician.
- Contributes to a physician’s efficiency by identifying short-term and long-range patient care issues.
- Recommends options and courses of action for patient care.
- Implements physician directives.
- Assesses patient health by interviewing patients and performing physical examination including obtaining, updating, and studying medical histories.
- Determines abnormal conditions by administering or ordering diagnostic tests, such as X-rays and laboratory studies and interpreting test results.
- Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
- Performs therapeutic procedures by administering injections and immunizations, suturing, and managing wounds and infections.
- Instructs and counsels patients by providing normal growth and development information and providing counseling on emotional problems of daily living.
- Provides community of care by developing and implementing patient-management plans.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; and enforcing adherence to requirements and advising management on needed actions.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Develops health care team staff by providing information, educational opportunities, and experimental growth opportunities.
Qualifications |
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of accredited PA school and/or Licensed by Texas Board of Nursing as Advanced Practice RN
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current active licensure/Certification to practice as a PA/NP Â in the State of Texas
- Current BLS certification.
- Knowledge of professional theory, practice, and medical care to give and evaluate patient care. Â Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Â Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques to provide ongoing patient care. Â Knowledge of medications and their effects on patients. Â Knowledge of patient education principles to develop self-care programs. Â Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency work situations. Â Ability to communicate clearly.Â
Physical Demands |
Physical Demands:Â Tasks and expectations may vary by clinical site and medical practice. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner. May be exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne allergens used during skin testing and immunotherapy.
Work Environment |
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor clinic office setting with adequate ventilation; Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic) Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with regular working hours; Occasional Saturday’s and/ or travel to other clinics may be required.
