2026 Department of Environmental Management (DEM) SEASONAL PROGRAM
The State annually employs qualified responsible individuals in a variety of positions with the State's Parks, Beaches, Research Programs, and Administrative Offices during a specific limited period. Applicants will be considered for open seasonal positions based on their qualifications, availability, and willingness to travel to the assigned location (s).
Many of the classifications have a three-step pay-grade. An employee in any of these classifications is paid at the first step during his or her first season. An employee returning to the same three-step classification for a second season is paid at the second step during that season. An employee to the same three-step classification for a third or subsequent session is paid at the third step during that season.

This position works under the supervision of a supervisor within the Division of Agriculture.
Illustrative Examples of Work Performed
To compile, update, and analyze extremely complex sets of data for technical reports and assignments, perform complex editing of a difficult nature including but not limited to, Assisting in the registration of agricultural products such as fertilizer, lime, compost, pet food and livestock feed; Assisting in the preparation of reports of the tonnage of fertilizer sold in RI; Assisting in the preparation of reports of agricultural products that are grown in RI; Assisting with the set-up and operation of farmers markets; Assisting with the administration of various federal grants that benefit RI farmers; Assisting with the administration of various state programs that benefit RI farmers; or to do related work as required. This position may supervise other seasonal employees as directed by a supervisor. This position requires the exercise of independent judgment, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and excellent computer skills. Applicants must be able to work on weekends, have reliable transportation, lift up to 40lbs, stand for 4-5 hours, and be able to work in varying temperatures.
