Illustrative Examples of Work Performed

A Naturalist Coordinator supervises other Park Naturalists and directs the Park Naturalist Program. An employee in this classification conducts interviews of Park Naturalist candidates and makes recommendations to hire. This position is responsible for scheduling and coordinating educational and informational activities, ensuring a smooth operation of eight sites statewide, acquiring scientific collector’s permits, and is responsible for purchasing materials and supplies, as needed. The Naturalist Coordinator acts as a liaison for the Division of Parks & Recreation Naturalist Program.

Required Qualifications for Appointment

State Parks experience high visitation during peak periods such as weekends and holidays, therefore weekend and holiday shifts are expected. 
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
