At High Desert Heart and Vascular, we are seeking a knowledgeable, compassionate, and highly organized Cardiac Device Coordinator to join our growing cardiovascular team. This position plays a vital role in the clinical management and coordination of care for patients with implanted cardiac rhythm management devices, including pacemakers, implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) devices, and implantable loop recorders.

The Cardiac Device Coordinator combines advanced cardiac assessment skills with patient education and remote monitoring expertise to ensure safe, evidence-based management of cardiac device therapy. This position collaborates closely with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, advanced practice providers, device representatives, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes and device performance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Clinical Device Management

• Manage and monitor patients with implanted cardiac rhythm management devices.
• Review, interpret, and triage remote monitoring transmissions and device alerts.
• Identify abnormal findings, arrhythmias, battery depletion, lead issues, device malfunctions, and other clinically significant events.
• Monitor remote monitoring platforms and ensure timely review and management of incoming transmissions.
• Perform in-clinic device interrogations and support device programming adjustments as directed by providers.
• Coordinate follow-up care, diagnostic testing, and device-related procedures.
• Collaborate with electrophysiologists, cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and device manufacturers regarding patient care and device management.

Patient Care & Education

• Provide patient education regarding device function, remote monitoring equipment, transmission schedules, symptom reporting, and treatment plans.
• Conduct telephone triage and respond to patient questions regarding symptoms, device alerts, and monitoring results.
• Assess patient concerns utilizing clinical protocols, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice.
• Identify urgent or emergent cardiac symptoms and escalate care appropriately.
• Explain device-related procedures and answer patient questions confidently and professionally.

Documentation & Coordination

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Facilitate communication among patients, providers, hospitals, and device vendors to ensure continuity of care.
• Assist in developing and maintaining protocols, workflows, and quality improvement initiatives related to cardiac device management.
• Support compliance with regulatory, accreditation, HIPAA, and professional standards.
• Serve as a clinical resource for staff regarding cardiac rhythm interpretation and cardiac device management.
• Participate in ongoing education and maintain competency in cardiac electrophysiology and device technology.
• Work collaboratively in a team-based environment that values professionalism, diversity, and patient-centered care.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent healthcare education from an accredited program.

Experience

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in telemetry, electrophysiology, critical care, progressive care, cardiology, cardiac device management, or a related cardiovascular specialty.

Skills

• Strong clinical assessment, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of cardiac rhythms, cardiac device therapy, and patient education principles.
• Ability to independently prioritize workload and manage multiple responsibilities.
• Experience working with electronic medical records and remote monitoring technology.

Preferred Qualifications

• International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) certification preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) License in the State of Idaho preferred.
• Previous experience in a cardiac device clinic, electrophysiology practice, or remote patient monitoring program.
• Experience managing pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, and implantable loop recorders.
• Experience with device manufacturer platforms including:
  • Medtronic CareLink
  • Abbott Merlin
  • Boston Scientific LATITUDE
  • Biotronik Home Monitoring
• Experience utilizing Epic electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Prior leadership, preceptor, or quality improvement experience.
