Description

To support excavation crews in safely completing underground plumbing, sewer, and utility work while developing trade skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.


Overview:

Master Excavation is seeking an Excavation Apprentice to assist with residential and commercial digging, trenching, and installation projects. In this role, you’ll work under experienced operators and plumbers to prepare job sites, operate tools, and learn the fundamentals of excavation and underground utility work.

This is an excellent entry point into the trades for someone who is dependable, safety-minded, and ready to grow into a skilled excavation or equipment operator role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with site preparation, trenching, and backfilling on excavation jobs
  • Hand dig in areas with limited machine access as needed
  • Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment
  • Spot and guide equipment operators to maintain jobsite safety
  • Clean and maintain tools, trailers, and equipment after use
  • Follow all safety protocols, signage requirements, and dig regulations
  • Support plumbers and operators with pipe placement, measurements, and inspections
  • Attend required training and jobsite safety meetings

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • CDL needed but willing to help with meeting this requirement within a 6 month timeframe
  • No experience required—training provided
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work outdoors, and handle physical labor daily
  • Comfortable working in trenches, crawlspaces, and around heavy equipment
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred
  • Must pass background check and drug screening
