Job Description:

Position Description:

Develops software applications using Agile development practices, Enterprise Messaging Service (EMS) or Kafka, Java, Spring framework, Oracle, SQL/PLSQL, and Qeb containers. Implements test automation frameworks that support testing -- unit, component, integration, and system -- executed through Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, using jUNIT, Cucumber/FITNESS, and Karate. Plans and employs fundamental design principles for building scalable software applications scripts, using HTML, JavaScript, and Angular. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation)  designing, developing, and maintaining high volume, low latency applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Nodejs, and test automation frameworks (Junit or Cucumber) and deployed them to AWS Cloud platform.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent)  and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation)  designing, developing, and maintaining high volume, low latency applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Nodejs, and test automation frameworks (Junit or Cucumber) and deployed them to AWS Cloud platform.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing microservices using Cloud computing services - AWS, Amazon Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka (MSK), REST, Angular/Node.js, Python, and persistence frameworks (Hibernate or Spring Java Persistence API (JPA)).
  • DE integrating microservices with relational databases (Cockroach, Oracle, DB2, or Sybase) and non-relational databases (Dynamodb), using Spring Data JPA and DynamoDB AWS software development kit (SDK) for Java; writing and debugging Oracle queries and stored procedures using DBeaver or SQL Developer; and performing performance tuning PL/SQL using Explain plan.
  • DE performing DevOps engineering and CI/CD, using Jenkins, Concourse, Docker, uDeploy, or Terracore; setting up the Autoscaling group and Blue-green deployment for deploying microservices on AWS Cloud platform (Kubernetes EKS) and version control (Bitbucket or GitHub); creating JUnit test scripts to unit test code flow and application components, using Mockito framework; and writing automated tests using Cucumber, Postman, Insomnia, or SoapUI.
  • DE setting up automated health monitoring, logging mechanism, and creating dashboards for alerts, using Splunk or DataDog; and setting up Autoscaling group as part of Cloud formation Template and automation of Cloud Governance Gates, using Terracore modules.
