Job Summary
This is a hands-on board-level hardware design role within SlingWorks, one of Elbit America’s most advanced and specialized engineering teams it will also focus on targeting and next-generation mission systems

You will design and integrate PCBAs, working with processors, FPGAs (integration only), sensors, and high-speed interfaces. This is a practical, lab-driven role with direct ownership of hardware from concept through bring-up, validation, and transition to production.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Design board-level hardware including schematic capture, component selection, and interface definition
• Integrate processors, sensors, and interface subsystems into cohesive board-level designs
• Integrate FPGAs at the system and interface level (no FPGA logic or RTL design)
• Partner with PCB layout to ensure signal integrity, manufacturability, and overall performance
• Perform board bring-up, debug, and validation in a lab environment
• Develop and execute test and debug approaches to validate hardware performance
• Troubleshoot hardware issues across prototype and production builds
• Design for size, weight, and power (SWaP)-constrained systems
• Implement power management and low-voltage power distribution
• Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and embedded software teams on full system integration
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to architecture and trade studies
• Support transition from prototype to production including DFM/DFT considerations and manufacturing support
• Perform basic design analysis and support simulation activities as needed

Primary Focus of the Role
• Board-level hardware design and integration
• Lab bring-up, debug, and validation

Secondary (as needed)
• Power design support
• Manufacturing and test support
• System-level trade input

What This Role Is (and Is Not)
• This is a hands-on hardware design role focused on board-level development
• You will work with FPGAs at the system and interface level — not design FPGA code or RTL
• This is not a coordination-only or documentation-heavy position
This role is centered on hands-on board-level hardware design. Candidates with strong hands-on experience in one or more applicable areas, including schematic and board design, power management, design analysis, DFM/DFT and manufacturing support, lab bring-up, testing, troubleshooting, or subsystem integration, are encouraged to apply.

 Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electronic Engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience in the industry (defense/government contractor experience preferred but not required)
  • Experience with one of the following: Mentor Graphics, Cadence, and/or Altium
  • Ability to travel 10%
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Tools & Environment
• Experience with PCB design tools such as Altium, Cadence, or Mentor (any one)
• Lab-based work including hardware bring-up, debug, and test
• Familiarity with signal integrity / power integrity (SI/PI) and high-speed design practices is a plus
• Experience with ruggedized or mission-critical systems is a plus

Why This Role
• Work on advanced, low-SWaP systems that go into real-world deployed applications
• Smaller engineering teams with direct ownership and technical visibility
• Focus on practical hardware challenges, not incremental maintenance work
• Opportunity to contribute within a highly specialized, advanced engineering environment
