Key Responsibilities

  • Experimental Design & Execution: Lead the design and execution of bench-scale R&D experiments focused on the isolation, synthesis, or modification of alkaloids.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Meticulously analyze experimental results, maintain rigorous documentation, and provide data-driven recommendations for subsequent research phases.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with technical and site leadership to evaluate research directions, translating high-level ideas into actionable testing protocols.

  • Laboratory Stewardship: Maintain an organized laboratory workflow, ensuring all safety practices and compliance standards are strictly upheld.

  • Operational Agility: Flourish in a small-team setting where adaptability and hands-on ownership are critical to meeting evolving project milestones.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Academic Background: Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a closely related discipline, or equivalent professional R&D experience.

  • Technical Expertise: A proven track record of successful experimental design, bench-top execution, and rigorous scientific documentation.

  • Professionalism: High level of accountability and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Compliance: Comfortable working within an alternative-compound/alkaloid R&D environment in strict accordance with legal regulations and company standards.

  • Presence: Ability to work full-time on-site at our Mesa, AZ facility.

Preferred Skills

  • Deep experience in synthetic organic chemistry, process chemistry, or biochemistry.

  • Previous experience in a startup or high-growth environment where priorities and timelines shift rapidly.

  • Familiarity with scaling processes from bench to pilot stage.
