CoxĀ FleetĀ is currently hiring aĀ Lead Mobile Diesel Technician. The Lead Mobile Diesel TechnicianĀ willĀ be responsible forĀ performing licensed DOT inspections, Preventative Maintenance inspections, light and advanced repairs, advanced mechanical/hydraulic/electrical and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. Achieve a mastery in majority of technical disciplines. Moderately reliedĀ upon forĀ advanced diagnostics and triage of complicated repairs.Ā Ā Heavily reliedĀ upon forĀ customer interaction and communication.Ā Ā Lead on jobsites, and the customer's interaction is heavily influenced by this type of mechanic.Ā Ā Mentor and teach other Technicians in the field in a manner most conducive to their learning style.Ā Ā TheĀ Lead Mobile Diesel Technician has multiple interactions withĀ MobileĀ Technician Manager to make valuable decisions related to the performance and potential of other Technicians within the group.Ā Ā Performs duties of Mobile Technician Manager in their absence.Ā

DUTIES:Ā
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (āPMā), DOT Inspections and follow up repairs on light,Ā mediumĀ and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.Ā
Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.Ā
Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment including, but not limited to the following: Electrical/Brake/Cooling Systems, Starters/Alternators, Air conditioning systems, Fan clutches, Engine electronics, Diesel steering systems, Engines (gas and diesel), Transmissions (manual and automatic), Clutches, Differentials, etc.Ā
Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.Ā
Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and to ensure that they are working properly.Ā
IdentifyĀ problems,Ā determineĀ accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.Ā
Independently manage parts inventory and equipment provided on company-issued service truck and perform periodic reconciliation.Ā
Maintain andĀ operateĀ company-issued serviceĀ vehicle, conduct safety checks, and pre-/post-trip inspections ofĀ vehicle.Ā
Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess their needs,Ā providingĀ information orĀ assistance,Ā resolvingĀ their problems, or satisfying their expectations.Ā
Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.Ā
Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Diesel tools, welding equipment,Ā liftĀ and jacks.Ā
Document according to company standards and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findingsĀ observedĀ on Repair Orders (āROā) using company-issued iOS device and our proprietary TRAIT application.Ā
Accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation inĀ timelyĀ fashion.Ā
Work with a high degree of independence and manageĀ ownĀ daily schedule.Ā
MaintainĀ a high levelĀ of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.Ā
Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as necessary for the repairs to be performed.Ā
Communicate with management and support team via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers and/or discuss RO findings notes.Ā
Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations,Ā to includeĀ OSHA, EPA, and DOT.Ā
MaintainĀ company issued serviceĀ truck, conduct safety checks and daily pre/post trip inspections.Ā
Support Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr in inventory reconciliation.Ā
Mentor Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr on best practices and techniques to stay within or close to most Standard Repair Times.Ā
Assist Mobile Tech Manager (MTM) with Quality Control Inspections on work performed by Mobile Diesel Technicians I/II/Sr.Ā

REQUIREMENTS:Ā Ā
High School Diploma/GED and 7 yearsā experience. The right candidate could also have aĀ
different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GEDĀ in aĀ related discipline and 5 yearsā experience; or 9 yearsā experience in a related fieldĀ
Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.Ā
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.Ā Ā
Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification C1 (Service Consultant) within eighteen (18) months.Ā Ā
Obtain 608/609 certification within eighteen (18) months.Ā Ā
This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportationās (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.Ā Ā
A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) monthsĀ remainingĀ until itsĀ expirationĀ may beĀ submittedĀ inĀ leuĀ of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months orĀ less ofĀ validityĀ remaining, a DOT physical will beĀ required.Ā
Due to interstate operatingĀ authorityĀ commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.Ā Ā
Safe drivers needed; valid driverās licenseĀ required.Ā CandidateĀ must hold a valid state-of-residence driverās license, be able to obtain andĀ maintainĀ their Driver Qualification File.Ā
