Job DetailsJob Location: Mesa HQ AZ - Mesa, AZ 85215Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: 4 Year DegreeTravel Percentage: NegligibleJob Shift: DayJob Category: EngineeringSUMMARY  Performs specialized and original engineering tasks involving the application of theories and technical concepts required to execute the design, development, manufacture and certification of aircraft components and systems.  Applies new and current technologies to design, engineering and manufacturing processes to ensure the development and maintenance of the highest quality products and services.   DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Review structural, electrical, and mechanical nonconformances found on new-build and post-production helicopters and provide technical repair instructions to correct/resolve discrepancies not covered by MDH’s existing data. Analyze, develop, coordinate and expedite dispositions for Production line, Completion Center, Aftermarket Operations and Supplier Requested Material Review Board (SRMRB) on design and functional nonconformances. Work with Design Engineers and Suppliers to eliminate repeat nonconformances. Provide technical support including interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and documents to MDH Manufacturing and Suppliers. Communicate proactively with Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Customer Delivery Center, Certification Office, Change Board, Program Management and Design personnel. Qualify and then serve as member of Material Review Board (MRB) to determine disposition of defective or damaged parts. Support Customer Support field inquiries. Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment for the design, and investigation of field repairs and support. Provide technical support on all MD Helicopters products. Other duties may be assigned.   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES  None QualificationsSKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of and the ability to understand design requirements, integrate, maintain, and troubleshoot mechanical systems, installations, sub-assemblies and detail parts. These systems include but are not limited to metallic and non-metallic primary and secondary structures electro-mechanical components, fuel systems, power-plant installation, mechanical/electro-mechanical flight controls, rotor systems, and hydraulics. A basic understanding of sheet metal, machining, composite manufacturing, GD&T, and assembly procedures. Good CAD skills: Siemens NX (Unigraphics) preferred. Application of concepts, practices and methods related to helicopter systems and installations in a design environment are required. Understanding of the difference in FAA major and minor repairs, and determination. Prior exposure in aircraft and or aerospace structures and materials engineering desired. Prior experience in developing repairs for airframes and components desired. Prior experience as a liaison engineer supporting production plus warranty & repair with evaluation of airframe and components and providing solutions to correct the problems desired. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint. The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required.  Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to get along with others and work in a team environment. Access to Export Control required. Regular attendance at the worksite required.   EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Engineering from four-year College or University and 3-5 years of work-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Stress Engineering experience is desired – NASTRAN and classical hand calculations.
