POSITION SUMMARY:
The CFO is mission-driven, strategic, and an operationally strong partner who serves as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO will provide leadership, oversight, and stewardship of all financial operations for a multi-branch nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The CFO serves as a strategic financial advisor to the President & CEO, Board of Directors, Finance Committee, and senior leadership team providing strategic insight regarding the association’s real estate portfolio, capital investments, and long-term facility strategy, hands-on oversight of all accounting, financial reporting, compliance, audit, budgeting, forecasting, and treasury functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Executive & Strategic Leadership
- Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute strategic and financial objectives.
- Acts as a strategic advisor to the CEO, Board and Finance Committee
- Provides leadership, mentoring, training and coaching to the Finance Department team.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support organizational decision-making.
- Leads long-range financial planning and sustainability initiatives working closely with the CEO and COO.
- Participate in capital planning, and growth initiatives.
Financial Management & Analysis
- Direct all aspects of financial management and reporting.
- Lead annual operating and capital budgets.
- Assist with debt management and serve planning.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, dashboard and KPI reporting
- Oversee financial reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
- Manage cash flow, investments, banking relationships, and financial risk management.
Capital & Real Estate Finance Oversight
- Lead financial planning and funding strategy for complex real estate and capital projects using diverse financing sources.
- Develop financial models and projections to assess the feasibility and sustainability of capital investments.
- Analyze real estate portfolio performance and recommend investment, redevelopment, acquisition, leasing, or disposition strategies.
- Manage financial due diligence for real estate transactions and capital projects in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Create and maintain a long-term capital plan that aligns facility needs with available financial resources.
- Oversee lending relationships and debt portfolio management, including financing, refinancing, and compliance activities.
- Provide executive leadership and the Board with strategic financial analysis to support capital investment decisions.
Accounting and Compliance
- Oversee General Ledger, AP, AR, Fixed Assets and Grant Accounting.
- Administration of YERDI fund contributions.
- Serve as primary liaison to external auditors.
- Coordinate annual audits and tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, YMCA standards and grants are adhered to.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead and develop finance staff.
- Foster accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Promote financial literacy and accountability throughout the YMCA.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration,
- Seven or more years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Strong experience in accounting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and reporting.
- CPA, MBA preferred.
- Previous nonprofit expereince preferred.
