Position Responsibilities

  • Accurately enters patient demographics information and insurance data in the computer as documented.
  • Verifies insurance information, collect referrals and authorizations, and/or other forms as documented.
  • Efficiently schedules appointments, recording them as documented and following practice policy.
  • Ensures that authorizations are obtained prior to scheduling procedures/testing
  • Consistently demonstrates a clear understanding of departmental needs and job functions as assigned by department Manager and/or immediate supervisor.
  • Demonstrates flexibility as well as ability to perform multiple functions within the practice to increase departmental efficiency.
  • Notify supervisor of any problems pertaining to processing the patients for upcoming testing/procedures.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge necessary to communicate with other offices in an effort to accurately and efficiently schedule testing/procedures.
  • Answers telephone promptly; preferably by the third ring. Ensure calls are identified and properly categorized in order to forward to appropriate area within office timely and efficiently.
  • Demonstrates proper telephone etiquette when receiving, transferring, and placing calls on hold. Hold times are to be kept to a minimum.
  • Repeats key information when writing down messages to ensure accuracy.
