The Surgical Technician 1 assists the surgical team during operative procedures by arranging and inventorying a sterile set-up for operations and passing items to doctors and nurses. The incumbent also assists in preparing and moving patients and in cleaning the operating room areas.

Up to $7,500 Sign on Bonus

Work Location: UHealth Tower

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                                          

1.Secures and prepares all supplies required for surgical intervention.
2.Ensures the preparation and maintenance of the sterile field in the operating room.
3.Performs instrument counts prior to each procedure.
4.Prepares patient skin for surgical treatment.
5.Positions and re-positions patient during surgery.
6.Helps monitor patient during surgery.
7.Provides supportive care during the pre-operative phase.
8.Performs scrub functions.
9.Collects and labels specimens taken during surgical procedures.
10.Follows all federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
11.Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                                         

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Certification and Licensing:

Certification in relevant specialty or field

Experience:

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
