Role Overview:
H.I.G. is seeking an Analyst to join the Business Development team in its Miami Headquarters. The position supports H.I.G.’s business development and deal sourcing efforts to identify potential investment opportunities and track relationships with prospective targets. Working directly with the Senior-most members of the Business Development team, the Analyst will provide critical assistance in pursuing new investment opportunities for our funds. Additionally, the Analyst will gain experience in all aspects of private equity and have exposure to the largest dedicated team of investment professionals focused on the Middle Market. This is an ideal opportunity for a pre-MBA candidate for 2-3 years.
Role Responsibilities:
Support the Proprietary Sourcing team in screening and researching potential company targets (both platform transactions and add-ons to existing portfolio companies).
Research senior executives, business owners, board members and compile contact information and backgrounds.
Initiate and track direct approaches and follow-up communications to prospective targets.
Prepare overview materials, marketing presentations, proposals and other materials related to business development opportunities.
Perform detailed analyses on closed Private Equity transactions in the small to mid-cap segment, including average deal size by industry, transaction multiples and buyers.
Update internal database of active portfolio companies, including company size, deal teams, add-ons, etc.
Schedule and arrange initial meetings and calls and participate as needed to: document discussions, summarize opportunities, create internal communications, schedule follow up/next steps, etc.
Assist in communicating and coordinating with internal deal teams regarding actionable opportunities.
Create and maintain comprehensive contact database.
Assist with special ad-hoc projects and support other initiatives, as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Exceptional organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Self-starter with tireless work ethic, appetite to spearhead new initiatives; ability to multi-task.
Strong project management skills; high attention to detail and quality of deliverables
1+ years of experience in a related field or position: (i.e. investment banking/private equity, business development/lead generation).
Advanced proficiency with AI tools from Anthropic, OpenAI and Google are critical.
Proficiency with Excel, Word and PowerPoint are critical.
Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM’s are a plus.
Excellent academic record of achievement with appropriate Bachelor’s degree.
