SUMMARY: 

 The Food Service Assistant provides support in areas such as production, safety, sanitation, customer service, catered events and other aspects as needed. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and serve daily meals in accordance with the menu. This also includes preparing and the set up/break down of on-site events.    
  • Provide exceptional & timely customer service to all individuals that enter the food service area.         
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships among staff, residents and community volunteers.
  • Quality food production within the HACCP program to maintain food safety. Establish a safe & sanitary work environment.                                                                                                                        

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 6 months of cooking experience preferred. 
  • 1+ year experience working with large groups of people. 
  • Experience with non-profit organizations recommended.   
  • G.E.D or High School Diploma or equivalent experience. 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • U.S labor and health laws, mass quantity cooking 
  • Cooking, Baking.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, with a sense of urgency
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations.
  • Ability to be professional, flexible, respectful, and calm. 
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Ability to lead by example.  
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or English and Creole preferred.
